Alexander the Great was a brilliant general. By outwitting his enemies, he defeated armies much larger than his own. Alexander was only 16 when he joined his father's army. For the rest of his life, he marched from battle to battle.


Directions: After completing the Inspiration timeline, you should have a better understanding of Alexander's Conquests. The following questions will assess your knowledge on those battles. Read the questions, and then type your answers below them.

Before invading Egypt, Alexander had to conquer Tyre.Alexander's soldiers took seven months to build a bridge to the walled island, while Tyrian soliders hurled molten lead at them from catapults.

After marching 400 miles through mountains and fighting battles in sub-zero cold, Alexander's army looted and destroyed Persepolis.


6. Alexander's men reached a point where they could no longer travel. What is the name of that point and what did Alexander do as a consequence for his men's actions?
*Hint- He was 30 when he made this decision.

After months of heat and rain, the army reached the Hyphasis River and refused to go any farther. To punish the army, Alexander led them on a harsh homeward route through the desert. Three years later, at the age of 33, Alexander became ill and died in Babylon.
